Everyone seems to be loving the Slumdog Millionaire OST these days and I am one of them. I am happy that A.R Rahman finally recieved some recognition for his work in the form of an Oscar, he totally deserves it. However, I don’t think Slumdog Millionaire is his best work but it seems to be gaining a lot of recognition due to Slumdog Millionaire which is a good thing. It will only lead people to check out his older work since he has composed some incredible music for Bollywood films. This is where I step in, I have been a huge A.R Rahman since my childhood and I have decided to make a mixtape for people who are perhaps not familiar with him. I am sure that people who know his work might complain that I have left out some key tracks from his discography and I am sure I have but its hard to pick songs from such an incredible discography at the same time trying to keep the mixtape around an hour mark. The track list contains the name of the tracks and the corresponding movies they were a part of.

Radness! Thank you so much! I hope this is all I wished for 🙂
I hope you like it…I remembered the fact that you wanted some tribal drums, so I have taken that in to consideration while making this mix. The drums on “Chale Chalo” and “Mitwa” sound pretty amazing and I could go on and on about individual tracks. The thing is A R Rahman has created such amazing music that I had to ignore a lot of his music so that i can keep the mixtape around an hour mark. I would love to make another mixtape if i get some positive feedback for this one
Looking at the Lagaan tracks, I remembered the “untouchable” character in the film. There was one in Delhi 6 as well. Do you have any idea what the tattoos on her neck represent?
I dont remember the tattoos but I found it hilarious how those two kids follow her in the hopes that she would make them “men”. I thought that was a very poignant inclusion by the director.
You found that poignant? Haha, are you joking? I really wanted that guy who refused to touch her to die. Vijay Raaz is a favorite, but he sure was an asshole in the film. Here’s some blasphemy when it comes to Hindi Cinema, a reviewer referred to Prem Chopra in the film as being Pran.
I did , not so much as in the sense that it would potentially happen but the idea of it from a teenagers point of view. I don’t know its kinda hard to explain… I feel like it was trying to capture teenagers curiosity when it comes to sexuality. For example, you know how when you are little and you have crushes on people older than you and you wonder about things like that.. haha maybe I am just digging a bigger hole for myself here.Anyways, that reviewer who mixed up Prem Chopra and Pran, should quit his day job and needs to watch this
Hahaha for sure. That’s from Bobby. If I remember correctly, that’s all he says in the film.
Don’t worry about the explanation. I understand where you’re coming from. It’s still innocent, but when you discover masturbation and start going hard, the poignancy is lost.
Would it be possible to get a re-up for this mixtape? Would love to get a listen.
Thanks,
Remy
